After a few days of using the Oracle database from a virtual machine,
I was tired of using Linux from a remote desktop application because the virtual
machine is installed on a windows computer and I'm using another MacBook for
my daily study.
For this reason, I did some research on how to install SQL Developer directly on
Here is my tutorial after my experiment, I hope it can help you to make your
daily database learning easily.
Firstly, I set the Network Adapter to Bridged Adapter and chose the real
ethernet card of my windows computer.
Secondly, I clicked the Wired Setting menu on the right top of my Linux system(installed
on the VirtualBox), then took notes of the IP address which should in the same network
segment.
Then, Download and install the oracle sql developer for Mac OS. Here is the
(Oracle will ask you to register and sign in before downloading, Don't worry, it's free.)
Next, Let's configure the database connection on Oracle SQL Developer. Here I click the
green plus button not the top left of the Connections section.
Finally, I tapped the database username, password, hostname/ip, sid/service
name, then click test, if the status shows success means you can explore your database on
Mac OS. If there is a problem, you can check your database account, network depends on
the status information.
Hope this record can be helpful for you. Please leave the message on the below if you have any question.
